Breathwork

Breathwork Sessions With Susan Giddens

Just breathe, it’s natural

Of course, that’s easy to say but it’s not the reality for many of us. Yes, we breathe for survival, but so many of us do not tap into our breath for healing, support, strength, or guidance.

Why is this? Why do we not use our breath for a greater purpose? Why do we not use it for Transformation?

Go back to your breath

Breathwork is the fastest healing modality I’ve ever experienced. It’s like a bullet train to healing.

Over a course of our lifetime, we experience stress and trauma. Sometimes the trauma is big T, other times it’s little t. It doesn’t matter the grade of trauma. It changes us!  It becomes stagnant energy in our body.

In many cases, we learn to protect ourselves by disconnecting from our bodies and living life in our heads. Unfortunately, the richest life experiences – joy, compassion, love – are not thinking capabilities. They are felt in our body and when we are disconnected the degree to which we feel these are compromised.

This stagnant energy is often what holds us back from stepping into our power, from using our voice, from feeling alive and fulfilled.  It shows up as fear, anger, regret, sadness, grief and/or other emotions.

In addition to holding us back, trauma builds up. It is stored in the cells of our body* and can be triggered at life’s most inconvenient moments. Using Breathwork, we slowly, with lots of love and compassion, work to release and let go of trauma, the heavy emotions we carry with us, the stagnant energy that weighs us down.

We breathe to reconnect with our body, our heart.

Once you are more connected and aligned with your body, you can use your breath to reach greater states of relaxation, creativity, and intuition. You can use your breath to enhance your performance. You can use your breath to feel a deeper connection with yourself and with others.

It’s magical and transformative

Fight, flight… or breathe

The flight or flight response refers to how our bodies deal with anticipated danger. This used to be a response when coming face-to-face with a lion or bear but nowadays, it tends to refer to the feeling of finding a massive stack of paperwork on your desk, having a challenging meeting with your manager, juggling childcare and housework, being an entrepreneur, having a side gig, driving in traffic, and many other daily stresses.

When we experience the fight or flight response, our bodies, specifically our nervous system, enter the sympathetic state. This is the state our bodies are in when we experience heightened arousal and acute stress. In this state, we are easily triggered. Our traumas live at the surface and can control us. We feel like we are protecting ourselves from harm, but in most cases, we are not. In fact, we are inadvertently retraumatizing ourselves.

We use breathwork to move the body from this unwanted state and into the parasympathetic state. This is the state where our bodies rest, digest, and heal. From this state, we use our frontal cortex, the part of our brain that is used for reasoning and decision making. From here, we are high performing, we are creative, we are intuitive. From here, our trauma has less control over us. We have space to consider our thoughts and reactions to life.

When actively and intentionally breathing, you can shift your emotional state to achieve a more desired feeling and state.

When we actively practice breathwork, we are actively pulled back into our body, into the present moment, and are more aligned with ourselves. It’s a beautiful experience. It’s unbelievably freeing!

How Breathwork Differs From Meditation

Breathwork can have a transformative power on anyone who opens themselves up to it. Engaging with intentional and active breathing releases feelings of anxiety, trauma, and more.

Breathing is the most natural thing to us and by actively engaging it and using specific breath patterns, we have access to life and vitality. Breathwork not only releases stagnant energy, but it also improves mental clarity, increases performance, intuition, and creativity

These benefits can be achieved in as little as ten minutes a day. The key to improvement is consistency.

Be With Your Body

Your body holds a lot of wisdom and is a source of intuition. When you are tuned in to your body and in alignment with your heart/soul, it is the greatest asset you have access to. We lose access or diminish access when we tune out, numb out, and leave our bodies. This is often done for safety and survival. With breathwork, you can tune back in, come back into alignment. You learn to be safe in your body. Over time, your intuition becomes stronger and it becomes your guide.

Being tuned in to your body is one of the best ways to live a fulfilled and authentic life. Breathwork is a speed elevator to healing and being back in your body. Being in your body is the gateway to excellence in all areas of your life.

Breathwork has been a pivotal step in my own journey and now, I want to share its transformative power with you.

Book a Breathwork Session

Private Sessions

Private breathwork sessions are now being done virtually. Private sessions are integrated with a coaching session where we explore what is taking place in your life and what you would like to work on. We craft your intention for the breathing session and then we create a safe space where we spend 20-60 minutes on active breathing and about 10 minutes in restoration.

You will also receive coaching on how to integrate the experience into daily life. You will then receive an exclusive email containing insights and homework on how to integrate the session into your work, relationships, and life.

Private breathwork sessions are a wonderful way to deepen the healing experience you may have had in a group session.

Group Sessions

Group sessions are currently being held virtually. Group sessions are custom designed and include grounding meditation, intention setting, active breathing, and in some cases, a specific theme of the day.
